The Thickest Traditional Cotton and Foam Futon Out There!
Our 10″ Freedom Cotton/Fibre-Foam futon is the futon mattress for you if you need something that’s comfortable, durable and affordable! The reason we can achieve all three of these characteristics is two-fold. First, the cotton batting is made from recycled cotton fibers, thus keeping the cost down. The unique nature of the fibre-foam core coupled with more padding and less cotton than our 8″ and 9″, makes this a champion in value and comfort. Nearly all futons, mattresses and cushions use some type of petroleum-based, urethane foam. Most … but not all! Instead of using toxic urethane foams, our 10″ Freedom futon uses High Density Fibre-foam in its construction.
Fibre-Foam is resilient; It won’t break down over time like toxic, urethane-based foams eventually do. This is the thickest, heartiest and most resilient of the traditional style futons that we have found. Fibre-Foam, originally invented in Europe, is a uniquely blended foam product that was created in response to the general dissatisfaction many Europeans have with sleeping on urethane foams. As a further benefit, not only is the manufacturing process much more environmentally friendly, but the creation of the Fibre-Foam itself recycles some raw materials used in other parts of the futon manufacturing process.
With the same amount of Fibre-Foam and less cotton than our Liberty and Tender Touch futons, the Freedom is built to Last Longer. Our 10 inch is superior to the 8 and 9 inch in thickness and resiliency, but because of its dense nature, it is not as flexible as the Liberty and Tender Touch (mainly applicable to trifold frames).
